It was the first time that I saw Avishai Cohen in real person. Maybe I was a little sceptic because of his great predecessors Dave Douglas and Terence Blanchard. My skepticism was wrong, Avishai Cohen is new, fresh and helps the SFJAZZ Collective to go to new a period with new spirits and ideas.

It was really a joy to listen to his improvisations and to see him performing. His solos were energetic and dynamic.

For the future I will follow him closely.

Drummer Eric Harland is member of the SFJAZZ Collective since 2006. Eric Harland surprises me every time again. He is a creative genius: different rhythms, the dynamics in his play and his interaction with the improvisor is stunning.

A fantastic concert of the SFJAZZ collective which has three new members since 2010. Robin Eubanks is member since 2008 and to my opinion one of the world most talented Trombone Jazz artists.

Stefon Harris is member of the SFJAZZ Collective since 2008 and successor of the legendary Bobby Hutcherson. His sound is unmistakable in the collective. From warm and soft chords in the background to incredibly fast and energetic solos.

To my surprise Stefon Harris did not perform on the latest CD of the SFJAZZ Collective (Live 2009). I definitely missed him on those recordings. In my opinion that CD is not meeting the sound of SFJAZZ where I listened to in all the years.
